Upton and North Elmsall Parish Council is pleased to welcome Councillor Peter Atherton and Councillor Ian Bell, who were successfully co-opted onto the Council at its meeting on Tuesday 21st July 2026.
Peter and Ian join Councillors Helen Owen and Susie Birtles, who have also joined the Parish Council during recent months.
Together, they join existing Councillors Elaine Farmer, Martin Hanson, Christopher Merrington, Arthur Miles, Steven Pallett, Stephen Spencer and Louise Taylor.
We are delighted to welcome all four of our newer councillors and look forward to the knowledge, experience and fresh ideas they will bring to the Council. Their contributions will help us as we continue working to improve our local area, support residents, and develop services, projects and opportunities for the community.
We wish Peter and Ian every success in their new roles and look forward to working with them.

The Council will shortly begin a further co-option process to fill its remaining vacancy, with applications opening on Friday 7th August 2026. More information about how to apply will be published on the Council’s website and Facebook page in due course.
